WHO IS THAT
LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER?
Upon discovering old photo albums in the attic, I am struck by the absence of my mother in the family’s visual history. This film explores the reasons behind her aversion to being photographed or filmed, unraveling the irony of her elusive presence and its impact on family memories.
The film itself plays into the role of a paparazzi, revealing the very person who wishes to remain unseen. The filmmaker contemplates the importance of photographs as anchors for our memories and raises the question: what happens to our memories and our legacy when someone we love resists being captured by the camera? ”Who Is That Looking Over My Shoulder?” is a reflection on memory, identity, and the fear of being forgotten, all while examining the paradox of making a film about someone who does not wish to be seen.
